What kind of start have you made? What was the difference between day one and day two of nano? How will you use the extra hour, if daylight savings ends for you tonight?
I've got 5k done and I'm sure where the story is going. Day one was mostly fiddling and planning, day two, writing. I'm using the extra hour to actually sleep.
I have made a shockingly good start - helped in part by staying up until 4am on the 1st. 4300 words yesterday! 2646 words today! (Normally I hope for 2200 to 2400 the first three days of November, so I am really delighted.)
My protagonist has so far had his wife and child vanish, received a bizarre, cryptic message from a stranger, followed the cryptic instructions and met a creepy little girl, and soon will be on his way to a city he's never visited before, where he will learn that he has to collect a whole lot of plot coupons before he can find anything else out about his family. (He hasn't left for said city yet, and has no idea that coupon-collection is in his future.)
I wrote 3,377 words on day one and 2,757 on day 2 for a total of 6,144. The extra hour won't make difference to me, considering that I'm a bit of a night owl I keep odd hours in general.
I do hope to get more done on day 3 than day two, On day 2 I had errands to do and was tired after so didn't get as much done as I would have liked.
Day one, I spent the day writing. Day two, I was out all day, and wrote between 10pm and midnight.
It's been a decent start, though the choppy, unstructured nature of this fic is beginning to bug me. I'm half tempted to just write whatever bits of fiction sort of relate to this general idea, and then edit out what's not actually needed in December. Like, I've got a rather important side story I need to finish in order to complete this fic, but I haven't finished it yet, so I might just finish that, so I can get on with the rest. But I always had a feeling I'd be spending a lot of this fic filling in backstory, so I don't really mind.
Yeah, there's actually a LOT of backstory I need to sort out, so I figure it's worth the effort to just write whatever I need in order to finish the actual story. XD /not cheating, I swear.
I've written about 7k so far which is a really good start for me. It needs to be because writing time during the working week is going to be scarce. Alas, this is the easy bit where I've more or less got the start of the plot all sorted out. But I've got some long bus journeys to spend plotting and note taking so that I'm ready to just write when I get time in front of the computer.
I managed about 3k on day one and about 700 words on day 2. I have a pile of 'stuff that must be done' today, but am hoping to intersperse it with some writing sprints to try and get today's count (and some extra done). The week ahead is not looking good for uninterrupted writing time.
Interspersing "stuff I gotta do" and "words I gotta write" sounds like a good idea ( since you can reward yourself for the stuff, or take a break from finding the words!)
Well I gave myself a long first 'word sprint' so I'm off to a good start for the day - hopefully it will continue - I'm just about to tackle five more jobs (two of which are pretty time consuming - I'm saving the third really time consuming one for the next batch of jobs)
NaNo's been going great for me so far. I took the day off on Friday so I could kick off NaNo in style and it was a great idea. I wrote 10K. Yesterday, I was out and about and went to a write-in and added about 5K. Today, I'm aiming for about 7,500 words since I don't have anywhere to be and apparently I write more at my kitchen table than anywhere else, LOL.
I got up to 5k yesterday (the 2nd) and I took today off (my plan for pace this year is 2250 every day but Sundays off.) Considering i've spent most of today asleep or needing to do errands, that was a good plan!
Coming in late to this. Unfortunately, this November health issues have hit my family hard and I've been struggling mentally, so I've gotten nowhere near the good start I'd hoped for.
I was working on a completely different fic to the one I'd planned, so I've switched out stories -- that alone got me an extra 1.4k, but I'm sitting at at a little over a 4k deficit :(
