The writing may not be as pretty as years before but it seems to me that you're working through a lot of stuff while writing this year's story. Was the earlier NaNo story written with an outline or more prep work?

And I wouldn't worry too much about it. A writer's style of writing is something that is constantly in flux sometimes depending on what books you've read lately, or the latest movie or TV show, conversations with friends or a even a bad day. Be patient with yourself and see what happens.
