NaNoWriMo 2011 - Day 1

Day 1 - 29 days remaining

Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it;
Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.

— Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

And so it begins!

And whether pantster or plotter, now is the time to set your characters onto the twisty paths of your imagination that will carry them from desire to achieving their heart’s desire - or not. And in this quest, be sure to offer your hero the best challenges you can to test them and prove their worth of the prize that awaits them.

And so it begins!

Look beyond the words and let the story reveal itself page by page, from your hero’s ordinary world to the world of the extraordinary, of epic battles both outward and solitary within, to embrace the final resolution that resonates with thematic significance of those ideas that have guided your characters to this great final shining moment.

So it begins! Let’s go! Today’s word count is 1,667 words. Write, Nano Writer, write!

Eee. 40-ish minutes to go, for me... I already have what I hope will be a great starting sentence, so all I have to do is remember it for another 40 minutes :D

\o/ It's started, it's started, it's started!

unfortunately, my icon pretty much describes my current state, though :P

Replying to myself!

136 words written right at midnight, and I still like the starting sentence as much as I did when I came up with it, so that's promising. :D

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! The madness has begun!! :D :D

Already done my daily word count, and I'm hoping that I can create a buffer quickly, because I know there are days I won't be able to do it.

I managed to write 1682 words for today, which was about two short scenes in the story. That's probably all I'll do for today, since I'll be busy most of today, but yay! On schedule!

Aargh

Done nothing yet. Off to work all day (where my boss might object to me writing), then to my tabletop game until late. Writing is going to have to replace sleep.

Over 1,000 words and it's only nine o'clock...

Best part is, it turns out I'm writing an official history of my world from within the world (which I totally did not know until 100 words in), and the narrator is a snob and a kiss-up. And keeps getting edited by the royal spymaster. Fun times!

I'm looking forward to the inevitable moment where the crown prince does something truly stupid and the historian comes back to find his previous day's work in the fire and a note that says, 'Despite what he thinks, Prince Calladar is not a pirate.' XD

1870 words written today (it's half past 9 in the evening now here)! Time for some other things now, maybe some more this evening! I'll have exams coming up next week so it'll be good if I can make a bit of a buffer already.

Good luck everyone :D

I've finished Day 1 on 1752 words - the prologue in which I've killed thirteen people already :o It was a flashback to a mass execution of (supposed) witches in 1657 though, so I won't be bumping off quite as many people at once in the later chapters. At least, I'm not planning to...

Man, I thought I was out already this morning. I've had the stomach flue the past couple of days and could not write by any stretch of the imagination. But my fever broke around three, I finally started feeling better, and I blew past the word count. \o/ Looks like I might be able to get through this after all. Of course, I'm writing a totally different story than what I started plotting at the beginning of October, so my username is no longer appropriate, but at least I'm writing. XD

Low on spoons, but I'm slowly working myself to the goal. I've found that if I start early in the morning and work at adding it all through, the crunch of getting the required amount (or more) at the end of the day doesn't feel so stressful or hard to pull out. Now if I could just catch that plotbunny.

I usually like to stay up and start writing at midnight, but I was SO tired. And then I spent all day in class or catching up with readings. I was worried I would epic fail on the first day this year. But I just got down 2,270 words. (After all, almost everyone I know IRL is doing NaNoWriMo this year, and I must destroy them.)

2038 on the day! It's a good start, and a pace I hope to keep up.

I didn't think I was going to do it this year. I debated most of October.

Then shortly after the clock passed 1am on November 1st the muses started speaking to me. It wasn't long before words were pouring out and then suddenly I was officially in nano again.

This will be my 9th year. After last year's spectacular last minute effort and falling only 95 words shorts I have the desire to kick some serious nano-tail.

3089 words down. 46911 to go.
