NaNoWriMo 2012 - Day 1

Day 1 - 29 days remaining

You can, you should, and if you’re brave enough to start, you will.

The word count for today is 1,667! Easy, right? That’s about seven pages of a typed manuscript (following standard format). Of course Your Mileage May Vary and don’t think you have to stop when you hit the day’s quota! This is the time to tap into all that good writer mojo and let yourself go with the flow!

Questions? Comments? First word? It’s all good! So Keep Writing!

I started this morning while the kids prepared for school. First sentence:

Tony Stark’s boredom reached epic proportions pretty easily.

Yes, it's fanfiction, but I'm editing original works for myself/someone else this month too. Soo... >>; Yeah.

No shame in it. I've written fanfic for Nano before.

Seconding that. I've written fanfic every time for NaNo, and I'm doign it again this year.

I think fanfic might be allowed now; they've given fanfic it's own forum thread, and there are a number of other threads for fandoms as well.

FanFic I'm pretty sure has been allowed for as long as I've known about NaNoWriMo, which has been a few years. The only goal I really knew you HAD to do was write 50k in 30 days. I make it a personal goal NOT to do fanfiction (because finishing fanfic stories isn't a problem for me but doing an original story is a HUGE problem for me, so that is the goal I want to overcome.)

I'm totally the opposite. If I really like a story I am so in that universe I can produce stories people say could have been published with the original (which is probably a compliment higher than merited.)

But I can't write my own world well and I get major intimidation issues even with writing the story on a computer. It's really sad because I just want to finish my story ideas, lol. I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY DO THIS ONCE SINCE HIGH SCHOOL.

Nope no shame at all. Plus, it might mean I get things edited for a change. I'm hoping so, anyway.
