NaNoWriMo 2012 - Day 8

Day 8 - 22 days remaining

One thing that helps is to give myself permission to write badly.

Today's word count is 13,336! And we're staring down the infamous Week Two of the NNWM Challenge. But we're not going to let that stop us or even slow us down, right Nano Writers?! We've got stories to tell and out antagonists are in the thick of it now, fumbling and flailing, trying to figure out what to do next now that they've left the comfort of their everyday world.

It's kind of scary. It might seem that what we write is doomed to fail. Just like our characters are convinced that after a couple of bad turns, they can't do it after all. But we need to show them how by not giving up even when things look bad - that's the time you need to remind yourself of the prize that lies ahead and keep moving forward!

Questions? Comments? First word/last word you wrote today? It's all good - so keep writing!

Well, I woke up this morning, with the week two blues.

I'm gonna try for 13,336
If it's the last thing I do.

Currently at 17,236. Got them to another town, and they've set up camp in a pub. Because it has a generator and a still-working freezer and FOOD and BEER and VODKA and HOT WATER so yes. They're happy, for the moment.

...At least, they were happy until the red dragon came back to ask them to be heroes again. >:D

I haven't gotten through my word count today but I wrote this:

A few cheap gas stations A fried chicken restaurant. I felt like I was in a horror novel.

(LOL image)

So you can make that sort of statement accidentally...

Aaaand now I'm at 3.2k for today.

16,715. I am doing terrible things to everyone, and they are all very sad about it. Which pretty much is victory. (Today's terrible thing: finding a pile of bodies in an out-of-the-way river valley. Where people generally do not live. Which means someone had to drag the former owners of those bodies all the way out here...now who would do that? And it's startlingly similar to a prior case....)

1,196 written, which took my total up to just oer 23.5k. Felt pretty bad yesterday, hence the low word count.

Thanks :) I'm still feeling off today, and unfortunately while tomorrow is a special day, it also coincides with something that appears once a month X( (hence the feeling bad).

I have been spending a lot of effort writing today, though, forcing my way through the bleh feelings and ensuring I have a good amount written to cover for tomorrow.

I'm not positive who it is, but he has a great "I see what you did there" expression so I went for it.
