Wow - 2,000 words/hour! That's impressive! I am ashamed to admit it but I'm a "hunt and peck" typist :-( and come nowhere near your speed. Somehow though I've managed to finish my NaNoWriMo novels despite my "handicap" ;-)
I like your idea about typing for a half hour to gauge your "writing speed." I was going to suggest something similar (write a set number of words and check your time) but your suggestion seems more straightforward. Thanks!
