A writer needs three things, experience, observation, and imagination, any
two of which, at times any one of which, can supply the lack of the others.
— William Faulkner

The dread Second Week looms on the horizon, Nano Writer and when the writing gets harder, sometimes we begin to question whether or not we have what it takes…
Do you think you lack experience? Keep in mind the old adage “write what you know” is giving way to “write what you love.”
Do you feel your characters aren’t working? Grab a notebook and head somewhere where people gather and people watch. Infuse your observations into any characterizations that lack luster. The same can be applied equally well to places and things.
Do you think you lack imagination? It’s doubtful. If you happen to feel uninspired some days, it’s not lack of imagination. Sometimes all you need is to do something fun or relaxing to recharge your enthusiasm.
The important thing is not to give up on yourself or your story! Today’s word count is 10,002! Try writing a little and you might discover that you’ve written a lot… you just need to keep writing!
