ETA: Yesterday I ended up writing 3500! And it felt super great! Thank you all for cheering me on - I'm definitely looking into your sprint recommendations.

Y'all, I need some support. I'm INCREDIBLY behind after 3 days last week of basically no writing.

I just did some maths and I have a plan. If I write 2,500 more words today, then I'll be back on par if I can write 2,500 words tomorrow and Saturday.  I think that's doable? I've got lots of other stuff going on, but I feel the deadline for this grimoire sneaking up on me. I'd love to have a complete manuscript by Dec 1st so I can start editing, then get it to the printers by mid-December.

Ahhhhhh I guess I just needed to whinge with people who are also NaNo-ing.

Anyone else in distress and need a pep talk?

I'm actually ahead, for once in my life (after 16 years of doing this insane challenge). How?

I am doing word crawls. Specifically, the Harry Potter extreme word crawl. It takes you through all seven books (I am in the middle of the third book), and the amount of words you can get... I have already over 33k.

There are a zillion of these things, seriously, including tarot cards and just about any fandom you can think of. It has helped me so much.

These are GREAT.

There's even a competition between houses, a spreadsheet to keep track on, everything. Here's the forum topic, which has the links - especially the one to the text for the crawl, if you don't want anything else.

Enjoy! They are a lot of fun.

It's linked in there (labeled 339), in the second paragraph under "How Do I Join?". I'm not sure what else you mean...

I am also behind! By quite a bit.

I could catch up completely if I wrote 5k today, but I have no desire to do that. Instead I'm gonna stick with what my spreadsheet says, which is that I need to average 1767 words a day for the rest of the month. This is also what the Nano site says. If you frame it like that, it helps.

Also I'm using this, which is a lifesaver.

I think 2500 a day for the next few days is doable, so don't panic!

I'm ahead even though I've had a few cruddy days (today being the worst), but hopefully an earlier start tomorrow will get things back on track.

I'm behind by two days... though to be fair, that's mainly because I spend two days writing one-shots that couldn't wait and didn't count towards my nano total.

2500 a day is totally doable! I am hoping to get caught up to being only one day behind, today *fingers crossed*

After the drought of writing I've been in, even with five days of no writing this month, yesterday I still pulled out the needed word count and am on track to do that today as well. As I'm not going to beat myself up when life and my own ability gets in the way, as long as I'm trying.

And look up there, you have a bunch of words on the page. Maybe channel that distress into a chapter of the grimoire?

I am ahead, mostly by bribing myself with 1 Skittle per 100 words, and using a D20 on my keyboard to help keep track. I am cheering everyone on!
