Dialogue is not just quotation. It is grimaces,
pauses, adjustments of blouse buttons, doodles
on a napkin, and crossings of legs.

Today’s word count is 28,339, Nano Writer! The weekend is a great opportunity to catch up on your writing or if you want to get ahead and build up a little extra to cover for busy days next week.
But if you're feeling a bit tapped out or your weekend is even busier than your weekdays, you still might try to keep your hand in and your story warm by writing just a few lines of dialogue or setting description - something that can be done in five minutes or less and on the back of a napkin or index card. Twenty words... thirty words... a "tweet" worth...
Another way to keep your story active is to be on the lookout for anything from your day that can be built into your story. Even the way the guy at the coffee bar itches his ear might be the perfect bit of body language to bring a minor character to life or the way the sun looks rising over an abandoned building, the perfect image to write into the scene where your character finds the strength he needs for one last battle.
Questions? Comments? Favorite character gesture? It's all good! So keep writing!
