Dialogue is not just quotation. It is grimaces,
pauses, adjustments of blouse buttons, doodles
on a napkin, and crossings of legs.
— Jerome Stern

Today’s word count is 28,339, Nano Writer! The weekend is a great opportunity to catch up on your writing or if you want to get ahead and build up a little extra to cover for busy days next week.
But if you're feeling a bit tapped out or your weekend is even busier than your weekdays, you still might try to keep your hand in and your story warm by writing just a few lines of dialogue or setting description - something that can be done in five minutes or less and on the back of a napkin or index card. Twenty words... thirty words... a "tweet" worth...
Another way to keep your story active is to be on the lookout for anything from your day that can be built into your story. Even the way the guy at the coffee bar itches his ear might be the perfect bit of body language to bring a minor character to life or the way the sun looks rising over an abandoned building, the perfect image to write into the scene where your character finds the strength he needs for one last battle.
Questions? Comments? Favorite character gesture? It's all good! So keep writing!

I've kind of stopped in the middle of the epic reunion if only to give me something to write tomorrow and because I want to perhaps expand some of it a little more. And it's too close to midnight and a good movie is on right now, so.
Current word count: 35,345! :D Currently up to chapter 5, and I'm aiming for between 7-8k per chapter. Because big bang fic and I want as few chapters to post as possible. /lazy. XD

Date: 2012-11-17 09:22 pm (UTC)As a pre-emptive gift I got myself a new game for the 3DS, as well as having Sims 3: Seasons delivered today, so I've got a lot of things tempting me, but also a lot of rewards/perks to get me to 50k. I have decided that once I hit 50k I'm going to keep writing until I either finish or the month ends (November will probably end first: while I estimate the whole story to be 9k based on the current average words per act, I estimate act nine, the final one, will have a lot of writing involved).
Total wordcount: 46,534, of which 5,754 was written today. Just under 3.5k to write to finish tomorrow, and I should be able to manage that, if not get a bit more done.
