All truly great thoughts are conceived while walking.

Several Nano Writers suggested exercise as a great way to clear the cobwebs and get some perspective to break through writer’s block.

Sitting too long at the keyboard can induce sluggish thoughts as well as expanding waistlines – so get the lead out and try a little exercise – stretching, walking, jogging – and see if some fresh air doesn’t wake up the little grey cells!

I like to make sure I move around and stretch even if I’m in the middle of a good scene (well maybe I finish the scene first) by setting a timer and working my way through Keyboard Yoga hosted by the iVillage web site. The stretches really help keep my shoulders from tensing up and, let’s face it, pain makes the muse cranky.

So what’s your favorite way to “move it,” Nano Writer?

I typically do a yoga video 3 times a week (okay, fine, that's my goal, I don't always succeed.) Something I'm going to try this year is that I have Wii Fit now, which is great for little 5 or 10 minute breaks! Just go at it for 5 minutes of step aerobics or whatever. :D
