Day 10 - 20 days remaining

Don’t tell us that the old lady screamed. Bring her on stage and let her scream.

So, it's time for today's word count... is that someone screaming?

Today's word count to beat is 16,667! We're into the second week now. How is everyone's energy? If you find yourself flagging a bit, why not take a break and check out the NaNoWriMo Motivator brought to you by the Chaotic Shiny generator site!

Here's mine: "If you write 1874 more words today they'll put Firefly back on the air." That would be lovely indeed! Hmmm, I need a few more words to go to hit that - time to get back to work! Do you have anything special planned for meeting your writing goals? We're about a week out from the halfway point... so keep writing!

I'm still in the 7000s, but I feel this is okay because I'm just trying to do the best I can this time around. That and my reasons for slacking are legit because I have a lot of stuff going on that's higher priority (e.g., school).

That said, when I am writing I can turn out 1k in 30 minutes in Write or Die desktop, so I dunno, maybe over Thanksgiving weekend I can catch up liek crazy whoa and just sprint like a madwoman. I'm also happy with what I've got because it's not, in fact, terrible, and might actually be pretty good with some polishing.

Only 924 today - got behind due to gaming, and more of that tomorrow. So, uh, must write super fast tomorrow?

22435 words written yesterday, mainly because I managed to get home early to start writing.

I am screaming, because that Yaoi pairing I told you about day? Yeah, they want to take over the story. I'm going WTF at them, because they're now demanding FSTs to them. (Fan Soundtracks).

*weeps*

Morning from my side of the world!

And no, I didn't do that. Try 26k words and a teasing scene. *is wondering what in the world possessed her to write that* XD

Managed to make 19k before bed yesterday. Have written nothing today, mostly due to waking up with a migraine that is only just beginning to abate. Might try to get something done tonight to make up for an unproductive day all round.

So energy is low today, but I'm still excited about the story and where it's going and I know what I'm going to write next. It's just a matter of getting around to it. And working out where some of my random scenes fit in.

Oh! It's day ten now! I should tally up.

Apparently if I write 2302 more words, Santa Claus will turn out to be real after all! :D I should be able to do that.

On my first day I wrote 2401 words set in three different time periods--one between one week and several months before the story starts, one during the story, and one that was totally AU but with tweaking could have been the future of one of the characters. I was distracted by Star Trek, job callbacks, dinner, boredom, and a total lack of interest in zombies. Too bad my plot is made of zombies. :( But I also discovered Write or Die today, and found I can do 300 words in 10 minutes if I have a jumping-off point. So I am feeling extremely optimistic about finishing before Dec. 9th, my self-imposed due date, and cautiously optimistic about finishing with everyone else. :D

Also I like having a place (here) to siphon off the excess "yesterday" and start thinking about "today".

If I write 470 more words today, I'll be hired for my dream job. I applied for a job as an assitant editor (no experience needed, on the job training provided) -- I managed to get the words written, so let's see what happens :P

It's also my birthday today, and I've unfortunately got a copy of Watchmen sitting beside me, taunting me. Given my bad wordcount yesterday, I'm not allowing myself to read it until I've done a good chunk of work.

I'm currently a couple of hundred off 27k, but the Watchmen GN is so tempting...

Thanks :) Managed to get about 1.2k words down before I was hit with a headache -- some painkillers and 2/3rds of the Watchmen GN helped get rid of it. Watchmen has given me some ideas, but unfortunately not for this month's novel -- perhaps next month? :P

An update before I head to bed. I did manage a little over 2k this evening, which I'm very happy about. I pushed myself to finish past 21k before midnight, and while it was about half an hour after that that I reached 21k, I'm still happy with that. So yes. :D

Also, I have no random scenes in need of inserting somewhere, as they've all found their way into the narrative, which is awesome. :D

Mentioned today:
- mechanical horses
- steam trains and their epically fast speeds
- teh ghey
- wandering minstrels/stowaways/time travellers.
- Quotes from 'The Mikado'

Thanks. I thought it was pretty awesome. Finally got the mechanical horses in. I've been trying to find a spot for them since I started writing. :D And yiss, 21k. Very happy about that. :D I might actually win this year. XD And very glad to be feeling better, oh yes, indeed.

If you write 1520 more words today you can has cheeseburger.

Hmm... I can totally work with this.

My word count's 21,986, so I'm not freaking out just yet. I give it 'til the end of the week, eh? :D

I finished on 15176 on Monday night (including writing done over the weekend), and now I'm on 17259 with a couple more hours to go. Hopefully the site won't be down for maintenance tonight when I try to update my word count again! My motivator: "If you write 2246 more words today you will gain superpowers." Better get back to it then :D

My motivator was, "If you write 1026 words in a row you will not be eaten by a grue." Hurrah, I'm not going to be eaten by a grue! I managed that in half an hour (thank you, Write of Die), which put me at 16,838 words. On target, but I'm hoping I can get further ahead than that, being that I've still got a few more hours of writing to go. Time to visit the motivator again I think.

Luckily, I'm only about 200 words behind right now (I'm at 16 414), even though I won't be able to write for a little while (I've got a few blog articles I have to finish up before I can get back to writing), so it shouldn't be hard to catch up. I admit my energy isn't the highest right now, but it's probably because of all of the stuff I have to do. :/

Oh, well. Once these articles get done, I'm going into Write or Die online and catching up. :3

They'll put Firefly back with just 1874 words? That's so doable! Love it.

Despite having a bazillion commitments today and tomorrow I successfully wrote my 2,000 words. Still behind - 13,798. Maybe on Saturday I'll be able to catch up a bit more. I am *so busy* with school this month...

My productivity wasn't as good as I'd have liked it, so I only just hit 22k at the end of today. I've still got a decent buffer built up, but it's going to get diminished over the next few days.

Didn't use the motivator, but I am in general good about motivating myself to write enough to keep on pace.

This is definitely a problem I have. I like to go on and on and exposition and my novels end up being very psychological with very little action. I'm trying to work on this when I notice it and have the old lady scream rather than telling the reader that she did.

My wordcount is still decent, but I didn't have a strong writing day today.
