Day 13 - 17 days remaining

I wake early and hear my morning voices leaping around in my head
like jumping beans. I get out of bed to trap them before they escape.

Ah, the weekend! After a busy week of obligations - school, work, sometimes both - the weekend is often a good time to catch up with chores, friends, sleep... writing?

Perhaps writing isn't on the top of your list. And that's understandable. We all have busy lives and sometimes there just isn't enough hours in the day, right? But I bet almost everyone has thirty minutes that they can borrow or steal from time spent on other recreational activities (TV, RPGs, video games, chat rooms) to write out a few scenes of their story. And even if it's only a handful of words or an entire chapter, you'll discover that by the end of the weekend, you will have written more than you thought possible. Still not convinced? Here are two suggestions to try on for size:

One, don't think about how far behind you are or even how many words you need to write for the day. Set aside some time when you'll be least interrupted, set a timer and just write.

Two, write what is fun, write from your heart, write your story as if you were telling it to your best friend/spouse/guy at Starbucks - just like that. Don't worry about foreshadowing, plot points or dialogue tags - just do it - tell your story. Start a conversation with you MC and ask about what happens next. And if you're not having fun, throw in a couple of ninjas. Or zombies. Zombies are hot this year.

Spoiler alert: scroll over and highlight only after you've written something today ;-) The word count today is ( 21,667 ). How did you do? Excerpts to share? Questions? Comments?

Good day or bad, try to keep writing!

I hosted a write-in last night and got to 4007 on the day. I'm at 27K now. I'm aiming for 33K by the end of teh weekend, if my hands hold up.
