I'm beating NaNo today. As of last night when I finally crashed, I needed 3798. That's simple for me to get, because I'm coming to the climax and it's about to rip everyone to shreds.

So, I'll beat the 50k today, and then finish the story over the next week. I'm almost done!

I am slowly, very slowly, crawling back to beat the word count. I started writing today again, after not having written for a week. A week... *shoots*
But right now, the story is going rather well. It's kind of flowing. And I like where my MC is going to. She's witty and sharp. XD And a little bit crushed. Emotionally. But she'll get back. ^^

Wrote 4855 words today. Still 4897 to go to beat today's word count... *sighs* *shakes head* *continues writing*

and yeah, writing is going great for the moment! Really, the words keep coming and my MC is a great partner for the moment. She's having her ups and downs but she's a fighter. ^^ I think we will make it this year. ^^

Is it a good kind of scare because your word count is great! And remember, to "win" NaNoWriMo means only to write 50K words for your rough draft, not that it has to be done and complete by 50K. A lot of Wrimos go on to finish their stories after Nov. 30.

I think right now I'm just hoping to keep writing until Nov 30th. I've already totally surpassed anything I've ever done before, and I found out that writing can be really fun when I let it be.

I am slowly slipping behind this week, although still writing every day.

If I could add in all the lists and emails I'm doing organising for a party in Dec I'd be OK, but alas it doesn't fit into my story. I hope the bulk of the organising will be completed by early next week. And I have a longish train trip this weekend which might help.

Cheers for writing everyday! An odd question but I don't suppose that any of your characters might need to organize some sort of party in your story? Names and dates could be changed...

I have passed 45K today. I didn't think I'd have enough left on the first draft to make it to 50K but it looks like now that I will be able to do that after all, or at least come very very close. I'm winding down now and gathering up the threads for a not-so-neat tie-off.

This week I've also managed to get in 15 minutes of writing in the morning before leaving for work twice which had been rather great to come home to. The work already started. :)

Alas, I also discovered that one of my writing buddies had their bar turn green today. Great for them of course, but I was this close to being the first of my writing buddies to get to 50K! This close! (Now, how's that for a luxury problem, eh?)

This is the first time I've had such a nose dive in motivation and have completely used up that word buffer I normally keep.

I've got a Japanese paper to write, Japanese presentation, facing graduation, a slew of family and job and money issues, staring the computer screen makes my head hurt, and writing 1667+ words on a novel that hasn't really interested me for the past few days is something I have to force myself to do... if I can. I couldn't yesterday, and that took out the rest of my buffer words. =/

Thank you for the well wishes! And oh my! it seems to me that you might benefit from a break - writing your novel shouldn't be something that you have to force yourself to do. Take some time off! There are still 12 days left! If nothing else, you might come back to your story with a different perspective that will make it interesting and fun again. And there's always other alternatives to consider: kill off one or more main characters, zombies, time travel (to ancient Heian-Kyo?)... things to try as a dare or challenge that might make it fun to write again.

Ah and if I might ask, is your workstation optimized for your use? If not, that might explain the headaches. Ah, but you may have been speaking metaphorically...

I try to keep my desk ergonomically correct. I think stress might be getting to me. However, I have caught up on my novel, and I think I've gotten the spark back for it.

My region had our first big write-in at my college today, which was awesome. I got to meet a lot of new people, including a few classmate who I didn't realize were Wrimos, and we all traded writing advice so I got tons of cool tips I can't wait to try. My count for the day was pretty high: 2110, of which 597 were written in 15 minutes during a word war. That brings my total up to 35181 - the end is in sight!

27,257...a little behind, but I'll make it up. I always forget how little time is left in my days during NaNoWriMo--I don't even have the energy to post here half the time! But I lucked out with my class schedule this year, so my Thanksgiving break will be longer than usual.

So what's happened recently?
- The story switched from first person to third person.
- The subtext is rapidly becoming text way too early.
- Secret Diary of a Call Girl is a very distracting good show.

Excerpt:
“Stop pacing, or get out of my room,” Manasa said. “Pacing isn’t going to make time go by any faster or make her less miserable.”
“Sorry,” Shiri said, standing still in the middle of the room. She started tapping her foot after a while.
“Seriously, Shiri—”
“Derica said she doesn’t think you like her,” Shiri said. She shrugged. “I just said that it takes you a while to warm up to people, but she didn’t think that was it. I didn’t get a chance to figure out what made her think that.”
Silence.
“Was there a question in there? Because I didn’t hear one,” Manasa said.
“I don’t know. I was just wondering if you might know what made her think that,” Shiri said. “But that’s stupid, you probably don’t know. If you knew, you probably wouldn’t do it.” Shiri re-thought that. “Maybe you would, I don’t know.”
“Shiri,” Manasa said. “I know what it is.”
“You do? What?”
“The reason she thinks I don’t like her is because I don’t,” Manasa said simply.

I like the pacing of your dialogue, nicely done! And as much as we like to hear how you're doing (my first Nano novel went from third person to first) don't ever feel bad about spending the time writing instead! Happy also to hear that you'll be able to catch up over the break! Good luck!

I didn't write too many words today. Just under 100. Because of my previous buffer I'm now hovering at just above 30k. Had a nasty flare up of carpal tunnel and other aches and pains from the cold. I was too much in my body and not enough in my brain. I'm hoping to get back on track this weekend.

I'm also moving around some of the sections in the story. I post finished sections to my LJ so my friends can read along. It helps push me forward and even adds to my wordcount when I can look back and see where I missed something vital. These sections might move back later, but at least I can post it now and see where I'm at.

Man, CTS is not something you should fool around with. And a nasty cold on top of that! Rest for you! And maybe some kind of an over-the-counter anti-inflammatory. I have a brace that gives me some relief. But definitely: rest!
