I learned that you should feel when writing, not like Lord Byron on a mountain top,
but like a child stringing beads in kindergarten - happy, absorbed and quietly putting
one bead on after another.
— Brenda Ueland
So the dread second week is past us and our stories should be picking up speed again as we sail pass the halfway mark, our characters neck deep in trouble and wondering where they can get hold of a paddle.
And it's time to Check in Campers! How's everyone doing? Excerpts, questions, comments? Favorite camp activities?
I'm off now to string some more beads at the Arts and Crafts table. Keep writing Campers!

Date: 2011-07-15 09:31 am (UTC)I'm currently at 16.197 words. Still have lots of ideas, but no time to write them down. *sighs*
I feel like being a rebel and try 50.000 in 2 months.Anyway, my main character has just been hit by a car. And I need to start writing rehab... It's not easy... *shakes head but flexes fingers to start typing*
You can do it!
Date: 2011-07-15 04:26 pm (UTC)Good luck to both you and your MC!

Date: 2011-07-18 10:36 am (UTC)*nods* Well, I use my entire half hour of lunch break to write. But I get so easily distracted. too many amazing fanfics out here. And there is another challenge week going on at fic_promptly, so I must admit I'm tempted to write little fanfic drabbles instead of working on my original one. *headdesks*
On top of that, at the end of the month I get the key to my own appartment, and I'll have lots and lots of work to do in August. ^_^"
Thanks for the encouraging! *hugs*

Date: 2011-07-15 11:51 am (UTC)Amusing story: since one of the characters is pregnant for the first half of the novel, I've been reading about pregnancy non-stop (dear god, hope no one sees my Internet history and makes assumptions). One day I was reading about common dreams during pregnancy, and one of them is giving birth to animals. So, surely enough, I have a dream that said character's daughter is a PIG, and I'm panicking, thinking I forgot how to explain how the kid goes from pig to human.
Ah, dreams.

Date: 2011-07-15 04:44 pm (UTC)LOL. I know what you mean about internet-based misunderstandings. I've been posting my Camp writing to 750Words and it's hilarious what the text analyzer has to say about my writing: apparently I've been "upset" and thinking about "death" a lot.
And that's a very funny story about your dream. Maybe you could write it into your story as your character's dream...
