Haaaaa, I'm tumbling into the pitfall of 'Oh, I had a good word count yesterday, and I've shown that I can get it pretty easily! That means I can procrastinate more!' *facepalm* Yeah, but can I procrastinate after I hit the daily?

(That and my laptop's decided to give me the black screen of doom. D: I can still access my files but damn was I crushed when I thought I couldn't - this is the first time I've written all my notes on my laptop. Hopefully I can get it fixed this weekend!)

Oh no! I'm very happy to hear that you've haven't lost anything so consider yourself very lucky and make back up plans okay? It can be as easy as e-mailing your daily writing to yourself or posting them in your journal here at Dreamwidth (I do both and back up on a thumb drive, paranoid writer that I am).

Hmmm as to procrastination... how much of a gambler are you? As you have first hand experience, problems can rear their ugly head at any time. It's nice to have a nice fat word count to fall back on but I've known a Nano writer or two that liked to run lean and mean...

As soon as I found out I still had access to task manager, I was right onto firefox and e-mailing all the important stuff. XDD Except, I can't seem to access the internet on the laptop now, so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the USB will still be accessable by Friday. Also, woo-hoo for having a really old PC that's mostly all right! XD;; At the moment, I'm saving the doc on my laptop, my flashdrive, and on dreamwidth - though I haven't posted my entire plan on dw, mainly because I'll probably post it publically, and then the twists will be ruined. XD

I haaaate to gamble, which is why I'm 2k ahead right now, and hoping I can shove the bar even further today. :) If I start stressing, that pretty much kills my writer self, so yeah, can't let that happen!

To Calladar, he looked vaguely familiar, in the same way as portraits of ancestors long dead can remind one of relatives still living. To Nalellan, Calladar and Miran shone out of the crowd as goats on a plane.

Yeeeeah. When I find out what I was trying to say, I'll let you know.

My protagonist has decided he's bored, which is good, because I don't have a plot catalyst and he does interesting things when bored XD So we can time jump at some point today and he can go to a fair and set himself on fire and then THINGS WILL HAPPEN. And eventually the pirates will turn up.

Too funny! I love that image: goats on a plane. Sounds like you have some exciting things on the horizon - yeah! for bored yet imaginative characters!

I forgot to reply yesterday. Yesterday I got 4328 words, blowing both my 1667 goal and my 2500 goal (if I don't write weekends or Thanksgiving, I have 20 days, which means 2500/day) right out of the water. Today I have so far 3041, and it's only 9:30AM. I have till about 6PM before I have to get husband home from work, and if I focus I think I might be able to get another 2611, which will get me through Sunday's goal.

Beautiful, beautiful word counts! And you've planned ahead! Wonderful! I'm on the same writing plan (no weekends - or at least I'm not counting on them - no Thanksgiving) - so I'll wish good luck to us both as we take on our aggressive schedules!

New indeed! One of my characters just went from being an ordinary housewife to a businesswoman AND a mage.

And I haven't even started on her kids yet!

Right so ... First chapter is finished and I just killed my MC. :p:p
Still short on words. I'm not focused enough.. I'm still writing another story, and that one is flowing way better than my NaNo one. *pouts*

Oh no - your MC is dead in the first chapter? Well that is an interesting problem to overcome! And you're right - your muse is probably more focused on the other story - anyway to combine the two?

Yup, I killed my MC in chapter 1. :p Though, not really. Everybody else just needs to believe she is dead. XD
Yeah, the muse is more focused on the other story. And combining ... Nya, not really. The other story is in Dutch. My NaNo story is in English. And the genres are completely different and I can't really combine it. *pouts* And I can't take the other story as my NaNo, because it is my CampNaNo that I am rewriting... *sweatdrop*

I'll try. Today I'll be focussing on my NaNo story! *Has pen and paper near her at work. And of course Word is there all day long. :p*

Yup, it is indeed part of the plan to escape the organization. ^^
And for the moment it's rather succesful. Nobody will know or suspect, but they will meet again later in the story. :-)

Oh man, I am so glad I found this community! This is my first time doing NaNo, and I'm already behind since I didn't get the chance to write anything yesterday. Now I'm struggling to find the motivation to start today. I know once I start and get going it'll come easier, but it's so hard to get myself to just sit down and begin. :T

Take some deep breaths and try not to panic :) Slow starts are not unusual, even among those of us who've got a few NaNos under our belts and plan ahead. Sending positive thoughts your way!

But panicking is what I do best... :C Thanks, tho! I'm trying to get over a year long writer's block right now so I wasn't really expecting to just jump right into it and have it all ~come out. Still, here's to hoping I can get moving soon!

Welcome to the community fiones! A year-long writer's block - ouch! That might be a little tough to breakthrough but even a mountain can be taken down by a trickle of water or a gust of wind - you just need to keep chipping away at it!

This is a great bunch of writers! So if you ever need a friendly ear or a kick in the pants ;-) don't be shy about asking!

Only managed to write a few hundred words so far today but I wrote almost 4900 words yesterday, so I have some breathing room. I just don't want to take it this early in the month. /o\ An excerpt of what I did manage to write today:

I was driving down FM 1830, the sun down and nothing lit up because that road didn’t have any sort of lamps or overhanging lights, when I hit and killed Death and his horse. I mean, anyone could have done it. Like I said, the road was dark, and he really shouldn’t have crossed it like that.

My narrator is... a bit of an oddball. As you can probably tell.

Very cool set up! I like your writing style as well as your "oddball" character! And you have a beautiful word count but you're right when you say that it's early days! Of course, as you know, even a hundred words is something for the pot ;-)

My overall total rests at 3862 (2110 words today), and I'm almost at the end of Chapter 1, so at the moment it's poodling along quite nicely :)

Cracked in at 5168. It's writing pretty well, but today seems a bit hazy. Having trouble pulling words.
