Day 4 - 26 days remaining

Great heroes need great sorrows and burdens, or half
their greatness goes unnoticed. It is all part of the fairy tale.

— Peter S. Beagle

Today's word count is 6,668! Is your protagonist having a bad time of it yet, Nano Writer? We may want to avoid conflict in real life but for our characters, "sorrows and burdens" are all a part of getting to the "happily ever after" or at least "the end."

And for our Nano Writers living in the US just a quick reminder that DST ends at 2 AM! And you know what that means! A free hour to write! Right? Oh come on guys, it least tell me that you'll think about it... guys...?

Questions? Comments? Sorrows to share? Joyful news? They say that a "shared joy is a double joy; shared sorrow is half a sorrow" so it's all good! Keep writing!

NaNoWriMo always reminds me how far west I am, lol, because so much sharing and word counts for the day are already done. I haven't written for Sunday yet but I have 10,700 words and will hopefully get at least a small amount done tomorrow.

So far now I'm at 12,700 words, and still going. I wish I had at least one day where I had as much steam as the first day, but at least I haven't had a day yet where I fall under the word count.

ETA: Now 14,000... If I can pick it up just a little more I'll be done before next Sunday :D

WELL. I managed to figure out a way to get at least one group of characters to move! Hurrah! I was getting a bit worried about where my conflict was. XD

So I'm feeling better about where this is going now. :D I'm up to 8578 words now, which I'm quite pleased with. Yeah! :D

My two main characters that aren't dwarves (that are supposed to hook up later on) are actually almost talking to each other almost civilly. I couldn't be more proud. I didn't think she'd ever stop trying to stab him with her teeny little dagger.

My MC just became a mutant and is now freaking out (she's 11, it's allowed). She's got to go home and tell her parents. Oh well.

But, I'm at 10,6008. Need to make 11,700 before the end of the day because I have to go out a good chunk of tomorrow. That'll cut into the writing time. But, for now, back to FOOTBALL and NaNo.

Well, starting off today my character had some trouble training her Bulbasaur, the starting pokemon she chose. He pretty much did nothing but stay in the centre of the living room, unmoving, whenever Tasha or anyone else was in the same room as him. He did manage to calm down after eating something when Tasha was out of the room and she took him out training -- of course, I wrote myself in to a plothole and now I need to get myself out of it.

Current wordcount: 12,205, of which 3,675 was written today. I have also got plans all the way up to the beginning of chapter 3, which should help me with writing tomorrow, although at the rate I'm going I'll need to write some more outlines!

Slow day today; only up to 9465, and that took me almost 4 hours. And my characters definitely think life is so very hard. (You've no idea, darlings; it's going to get harder.)

My goal for today was to hit 10k. I... recorded two podfics. Then I wrote a bit. Then I cheated a little and rewrote a few hundred words from a previous attempt. I was 48 words from my goal! So I wrote this:

"Otter drags herself across the bed of broken glass that is the next 48 words she needs. Screaming and flailing, her legs no longer strong enough to support her, she claws her way across with broken, bloodied fingers. What awaits her at the end of this dismal journey? Only the chance to do it all again tomorrow. And still, she struggles on, one sharp, jagged word after another."

YES I DID WRITE 68 WORDS ABOUT HOW I ONLY NEED 48 MORE WORDS TODAY

NO I DID NOT GET TO COUNT THEM

And the next 48 words were harrrrrrd :(. BUT I GOT THEM, DAMMIT. Finished with 10,007... plus two podfics, and two friends who were very happy to have had their stories recorded. It was a good day :).
