I never correct anything and I never go back to what
I have written, except to the foot of the last page to see
where I have got to. If you once look back, you are lost.
— Ian Fleming

Today's word count is 15,003! That represents about a third of your novel, Nano Writer! And it would be a tragedy of truly epic proportions to lose any of that work - so back it up! That's right - it's Back It Up Friday! Get out those flash drives or pack your story up and send it to the clouds. Whatever your method of choice may be - just do it!
Questions? Comments? Does your protagonist prefer it shaken or stirred? It's all good! So keep writing!

Date: 2012-11-09 05:52 pm (UTC)I'm up to 19k today! It was a bit tough, because Fridays are always busy, but I still managed my writing! It contained smut, and bitching about dragons. :D?

Date: 2012-11-09 06:21 pm (UTC)I'm okay with this. Whatever gets done this weekend, gets done. So, yeah. Already backed up the novel several times, so we're good there. Now, to go work on the editing!

Total word count: 30,097, of which 6,596 was written today.
I went back and wrote the fight scene I'd skipped yesterday (because I didn't feel like writing it) which added 2.8k, about what I'd expected, and wrote in my character travelling from Pewter City to Cerulean city through Mount Moon. She's also got a new pokemon, thanks to buying it from a vendor -- what she doesn't know, though, is that he tricked her and instead of having a Dratini like she thought, she's got a useless Magikarp (she doesn't know that yet, but by the time she does find out it's way too late to do anything).
Oh, and also a screwed up wrist, thanks to an attack from a large group of Zubats (warning, unedited):
As they walked along the caves of Mount Moon, they’d found out that Pikachu’s Flash attack needed charging up -- for lacxk of a better term -- on occasion. They’d be able to see fine just after Pikachu used the attack, then over time her fur would get dimmer and dimmer until they could barely see and Pikachu would need to send up another attack.
A few minutes ago they’d gotten Pikachu to recharge her Flash attack, illuminating the caves around them. However, they had stopped in one of the worst places, just underneath a nest of Zubats and, despite the popular misconception, they did have eyes, they could see, and they were pretty damn pissed off when a brilliant flash of light was set off near them, waking them up from the intensity and sending them in to an attacking frenzy.
“Sealy, go!”
Tasha turned her head momentarily, just to see the pokemon Alice had summoned -- a Seal. Tasha doubted just how useful it’d be againats a bunch of Zubats, but another attack from one diverted her attention from that question.
The Zubat grabbed on to Tasha’s wrist, sinking its fangs in to her arm. Tasha screamed, half in pain and half in irritation, and tore the pokemon away using her other hand, leaving her wrist a shredded mess. She hurriedly opened her bag -- which she’d dumped on the ground between her and Alice when the Zubats had started attacking, Alice doing the same with her own bag -- and yanked out a shirt which she wrapped around her bloodied wrist, tying it on as tightly as she could manage.
“Alice, a little help,” Tasha said, jabbing Alice in the ribs. Alice turned around to see what state Tasha’s wrist was in, and helped her tighten the makeshift shirt around it. The two trainers returned to standing back to back, keeping their eyes out for any more approaching Zubat.
“Sealy, use your Ice Shard attack!”
Tasha looked over her shoulder to see Seal flash-freezing the moisture in the air -- which Mount Moon was full of, being quite a dank and humid place -- and sending the resulting ice shards hurtling towards a bunch of Zubats.
“Thunin, electo ball and thundershock!”
Pikachu alternated between its Electro Ball attacks -- hurtling an orb of pure electricity at the Zubats -- and its thundershock attacks -- sending off quick but nasty shocks of electricity --, assisting Seal in fighting off the crowds of pokemon.
Eventually, Tasha saw the last Zubat on her side withdraw, the nest choosing to find somewhere safer to reestablish their nest.

Date: 2012-11-09 11:42 pm (UTC)I haven't written yet today because the idea that I might not need to be here bleeding money like a sieve is very appealing. I am working on school work tonight instead, lol. I doubt I'll make up for it tonight but maybe tomorrow.
ETA: I ended up writing 1.2k yesterday and now have a word total of 32.6. Woot!
