Putting the characters through pain is never a problem
for me. That's where all the interesting stuff happens.
And growth only comes through pain and struggle.
So it's for their own good really.
- J. Michael Straczynski

So Nano Writer, today's word count is 28,333! How is everyone doing today?
For me, I've been struck down by the latest flu bug and apologize for not being around today (and probably for the next couple of days as well). At least I have a fresh perspective on fevers and other modes of illness. And hey, it'll all be for my MC's own good right? ;-)
Excerpts, comments, questions, a bit of purple prose? It's all good!
And as always - keep writing!

Date: 2010-11-17 05:31 pm (UTC)As for my first novel, (my second has kind of fallen into a deep pit and won't grab my hand) it's taken on a life of its own. I'm just over 45k words and it's just gotten to the good bits. It's like the story is just beginning but all the build up was needed, all the hurt and pain in the beginning made my character who she is in the rest of the story --flashbacks just wouldn't have worked. I'm hoping to make up for the massive build up by writing another 50k. I'm aiming for 100k before this story is finished, even if it's not all completed in November.
