I'm sorry I wrote such a long letter.
I did not have the time to write a short one.
— Abraham Lincoln

Today's word count is 26,672 and it's Back-It-Up Friday! You know the drill everyone! Back Up Your Novel!
And it's the beginning of our third weekend - time to catch up, add to or push ahead with our stories! Remember too, now is not the time to give into worries and doubts the inner editor tries to saddle us with while we are creating! Write "long" and give it your all!
Questions? Comments? Back-up plans? Just do it and keep writing!

Date: 2012-11-16 12:25 pm (UTC)I'll blame work (since it's a stress heavy zone right now and by the time I get home I'm so emotionally exhausted that I don't have the energy to be creative). I'll also blame my inability to sit in front of the computer and produce.
However, I had a good night of writing (and stayed up far too late, but we'll regret that later). After a 4,000 word day I'm up to 19,942. I need one or two more 4k days and I'll be caught up with some room to breath. Or just a string of good 2k days to keep the momentum up.
My decision a few days ago to start fresh with the same characters in a new plot and new setting has paid off completely. I'm inspired again and these characters are thriving in their new digs. There's tons of story for me to plumb here; I just have to get at it and give myself the time and space to do it.
This is a special nano for me. It's the tenth anniversary; my tenth nanowrimo and my 12th noveling attempt in this format. This year feels like the story I've been trying to tell for years; it just hadn't formed up enough for me to find the words.

Date: 2012-11-16 01:44 pm (UTC)We are the tortoises of the race but WE WILL DO IT!!!
My dog of 12 years died last night after a week of rapid deterioration -- *snif* -- and I am off to bury her but I am channeling that loss into productivity and hope to be caught up by NEXT weekend -- Thanksgiving when my mom does all the housework/cooking.
KEEP GOING!!!
This is my first NaNo but I have had this story on the back burner for about two years now and really want to do something with it.

Date: 2012-11-17 04:03 am (UTC)She had a wonderful life and spent her last day at the barn in the sunshine smelling the horses. She passed very peacefully at home but I still cried like a baby. It's like losing a child. :(

Date: 2012-11-16 04:26 pm (UTC)Also, I burnt down a little village. And there are now soldiers everywhere. :D But hey, it's making everyone freak out! :D
Still only have a vague notion of an ending, but we'll see. I'm not sure the epic conflict against the State is going to happen. Because ... I don't think they care enough. I think they'd all rather find somewhere isolated and safe where they can be self-sufficient and just take care of each other. Build a new home. That's what they want.
I want one of them (at least) to get arrested, but even I'm thinking that might be possible just yet. I don't think there's enough of a badass dystopian government in place yet to make the conflict I wanted plausible, given it's still only been no more than about six months since the apocalypse. But spending a lot of time on recovery isn't necessarily a bad thing. I think they need it. Going up against the State can wait for another sequel, I think. If they ever let me write it. XD
